Unbelievable! Indian Directors Shatter the ₹ 100cr Barrier with Mind-Blowing Opening day at Theatres!

The list of Indian directors whose films made more than Rs 100 crore on their first day of release can be found here. South Indian films predominate on the list. Five of the three film directors are South Indian. With three films on the list—Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire, Baahubali 2, Saaho, and Adipurush—rebel actor Prabhas dominates this list. Shah Rukh Khan is in two Bollywood films on the list: Jawan and Pathaan. Top of the list are Baahubali 2 and SS Rajamouli’s RRR. S. S. Rajamouli:

Opening day revenue worldwide: Rs 223.5 crore

RRR, Rajamouli’s epic Telugu historical action drama, opened wildly successful at the box office. On its first day of release, the movie, which starred Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead roles, took in Rs 223.5 crore globally.

2. Baahubali 2

Opening day collections worldwide: Rs 217 crore

There’s another SS Rajamouli movie on the schedule. With an estimated opening-day revenue of Rs 217 crore, the movie went on to become one of the most profitable in Indian history.

  1. Salaar: Part 1—Ceasefire:

Opening day collections worldwide: Rs 178 crore

Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire is written and directed by Prasanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The film’s lead actors are Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with a supporting cast that includes Shruti Haasan. On its first day of release in India, the movie brought in Rs 95 crore and globally collected Rs.178 crore.

2. KGF-2

Global opening day revenue of Rs 165.1 crore

Another action movie set in the Kannada era, which is written and directed by Prashanth Neel, had a roaring start in India. On its first day of business, it brought in Rs 134 crore in India and Rs 165.1 crore globally.

Lokesh Kanagaraj:

Leo: Bloody Sweet

Global first-day revenue: INR 148.5 crore

The action movie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Thalapathy Vijay, had a phenomenal global premiere. The biggest first-day gross for a Tamil movie was achieved by Leo, which made Rs 148 crore globally on its first day.

Omm Raut:

Adipurush

Global opening day receipts: INR 138 crore

Because of Prabhas’ fame, the mythical action-drama picture Adipurush, which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, had an amazing opening both in India and abroad, despite receiving negative reviews and reaction. In the end, though, it was a total failure, only managing to make about Rs 450 crore on an enormous budget of Rs 600 Crore.

Atlee (Arun Kumar):

Jawan

Global opening day receipts: INR 129 crore

Atlee’s blockbuster action film Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, had a huge global premiere. The Hindi version of the movie made Rs 65 crore on its first day of release in India. The dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions brought in an additional Rs 10 crore, for a net total of Rs 75 crore. On launch day, all versions together brought in Rs 129 crore worldwide.

Sujeeth:

Saaho

Global opening day revenue: INR 130 crore

An Indian action thriller film produced by UV Creations and T-Series, written and directed by Sujeeth, following the phenomenal success of Baahubali 2, Prabhas rose to fame across India. As a consequence, despite negative reviews and conflicting responses, his subsequent movie, Saaho, had a phenomenal opening. Saaho’s first day of business brought in Rs 130 crore worldwide.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga:

Animal

Global opening day receipts: INR 116 crore

Sandeep Reddy Vanga is the director and editor of Animal, an action-drama movie released in 2023 in India in the Hindi language. He co-wrote the script with Pranay Reddy Vanga and Saurabh Gupta. The Hindi version of the movie made Rs 54.75 crore on its first day of release in India. The dubbed Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam versions brought in an additional Rs 9.05 crore, for a net total of Rs 63.80 crore. On launch day, all versions together brought in Rs 116 crore worldwide.

Pathaan

Global opening day receipts: INR 106 crore

The action movie Pathaan starring Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham got off to a thunderous start. It is the first Bollywood film to earn more than Rs 100 crore on its first day of release.
