Unveiling the Next Chapter: BLACKPINK Members’ Solo Journeys Beyond YG Entertainment

BLACKPINK, the chart-topping K-pop girl group, has set its sights on new horizons as the foursome departs from their longstanding home, YG Entertainment, to pursue separate solo endeavors. While BLACKPINK as a group will remain under the cover of YG Entertainment, each member—Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo—will pursue individual careers outside of the agency’s limits, according to a press statement issued on Friday.

The news is a huge step forward in the growth of BLACKPINK, a group that has reached unprecedented heights since its creation in 2016 under YG Entertainment. The decision to go solo follows the group’s extended deal with YG, which had promised fans a new album and a globe tour. In a statement translated from Korean to English by K-pop news website Soompi, YG Entertainment reaffirmed its undying support for BLACKPINK’s individual endeavors.

Jennie made a statement on December 24th, detailing her ambitions to launch a new record label and company called OA. The announcement was made via a photoset uploaded on the official OA Instagram page, along with a text that provided insight into the label’s concept.

“OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way than what is usual or expected,” the caption stated. It is a label created in November 2023 by artist JENNIE.”

As of the present, all four members of BLACKPINK have started their own solo careers. Rosé and Lisa both made their solo debuts in 2021 with the publication of their respective solo albums.
